WHO: Young business professionals and young agriculturalists under the age of 35
WHAT: Discussion Meet participants will engage in a committee style meeting competition for a chance to win prizes. Participation in the discussion meet helps develop a greater command of basic discussion skills. It also helps participants acquire a better understanding of how people think in groups for the sake of better understanding and solutions to problems.
WHY: $200 1st place prize. $100 2nd place prize. $50 3rd place prize.
Discussion Question: What can be done to encourage young people to return to Laramie to work when it means living in a rural area that does not provide the same amenities (education, health care, technology) as a metropolitan community?

Goshen County Farm Bureau 2013 "Ag Books for Kids" winners announced
Goshen County elementary students learned more about beef cattle production by participating in Farm Bureau’s “Ag Books for Kids” contests. Three Goshen County students were selected as runner-ups in the statewide competition and three students won district prizes. The Goshen County Farm Bureau donated agricultural books this winter to the elementary schools throughout the county. The students then had the opportunity to participate in a contest to show what they learned about agriculture. Nine Farm Bureau volunteers also read the book to many classes and conducted agriculture learning presentations.

College Scholarships Awarded for 2013-14
Johnson County Farm Bureau awarded six $500 college scholarships to 2013 high school graduates from Johnson County for the 2013-2014 school year.
Shannon Horn will attend Sheridan College and study education. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Blaine Horn of Buffalo.
Garrett Kremers will attend Sheridan College and pursue an Associates Applied Science Degree of Engineering. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Lee Kremers of Kaycee.
Misty Ballek will attend Black Hills State University and study elementary education. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Dan Ballek of Clearmont.
Isaac Kiefer will attend the University of Wyoming to study secondary education and coaching. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Alan Kiefer of Buffalo.
Candace Carder will attend the University of Wyoming to study pre-pharmacy. She is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Jason Carder of Buffalo.
Beth Besel plans to attend Laramie County Community College. She plans to pursue an education in Human Services. She is the daughter of Celeste Besel and Bob Besel of Buffalo.
The scholarships are available to students who will graduate from a Johnson County high school or are continuing college students whose parents are dues-paying members of the Johnson County Farm Bureau.
County Young Farmer & Rancher Program

Johnson County Farm Bureau Meetings
All meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Farm Bureau Insurance Office unless otherwise noted January 8, March 12, May 14, September 10. The Johnson County Farm Bureau picnic and annual meeting is August 25 at noon at the Watt Cabin on Middle Fork.
